Flat at Medborgarplatsen, the hart of Södermalm, Stockholm
Welcome to my flat in the south tower "Södertorn" in the hart of Södermalm in Stockholm. My apartment is a condominium. The house has two shared roof terraces on the lower buildings that you can visit whenever you want. The pool available via a booking system (that I help you with).
When you first enter, you will find a hallway that also serves as my study. Here is a bathroom with a shower and a washing machine and dryer. Straight ahead is the living room which also contains a small kitchen and dining area. In the corner, I have a French balcony that I open and enjoy on beautiful summer days and sit in my red armchair reading a book and sipping a glass of bubbly. On boring rainy days, I lie on my big sofa and watch TV or do something creative at the dining table. The drawers under the TV are full of pens and paper that you are welcome to use. In the bedroom that you reach from the living room, I have a double bed and wardrobe.

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Södermalm is one of Stockholm´s fourteen islands with a great mix of culture, galleries, shopping, restaurants, pubs, apartments, schools, playgrounds, green parks, walking and cycle paths. It is walking distance to most essentials and very close to subway and busses to use if you are going to museums, concerts, shopping malls etc. The commuter and long distance trains are close if you want to explore the rest of Stockholm and Sweden.
Södermalm was originally a "suburb" of the Old Town where the poor and working class moved to simple wooden houses in the 14th and 15th centuries. The wooden houses were replaced or supplemented with stone houses in the 17th and 18th centuries, many of which still remain. Take a walk in the northern part of Södermalm from Mosebacke to Yttersta tvärgränd on cobbled older streets and enjoy these older parts. I can recommend a picnic at Mariaberget, Fjällgatan or Fåfängan for a great view of the city.
Take the subway a couple of stops to all the city with all museums and shopping or the commuter train to the suburbs and enjoy a day out in the nature.

I had a perfect stay in Philips and Carolines lovely house. They were very friendly and helpful. We communicated via WhatApp throughout the exchange so it was easy to get answers to my questions that came up during the exchange weeks. Royal Tunbridge Wells was a very nice little town to explore. I also borrowed a bike that I took with me on the train and went on several excursions.
Paulina was very easy to communicate with and she made sure that our time in her lovely flat ran as smoothly as possible. The location on Sodermalm is excellent and very convenient for walking into the city, although the area nearby is very self-contained with lots of shops and restaurants. We also enjoyed cycling to various locations as two bicycles were provided - thank you.
I had a wonderful stay in Sabine's lovely apartment. Perfect distance to central Vienna and all the sights and walking distance to Schönbrunn Palace. Sabine was very friendly and helpful. We communicated via WhatsApp throughout the exchange and helped each other with small questions that arose during the exchange weeks. I also borrowed a bike which I took with me on the subway one Sunday to Donauinsel and ate a packed lunch and then cycled all the way home through Vienna.

I was born and raised in Södermalm but have lived out in the suburbs for 30 years and raised my own family. When I divorced two years ago and the children moved out short after I had the opportunity to move back to my roots, to the best part of the city in my opinion. I sold my three bed apartment and bought a one bed flat. The small flat was more expensive but I choose location over extra rooms. My flat is small but well planned and I have everything I need and hope you will have a great time here! Below my window is the passage between the subway station "Medborgarplatsen" and commuter train station "Stockholms Södra" (Stockholm South) so it is always a lot of people passing and you never have to feel alone if you come home late at night.
I am very much looking forward to exciting exchanges as a single woman in my fifties. I can exchange homes both during the holidays and at other times in the year because I can work remotely from home. It would be perfect to work during the weeks and do excursions and shorter trips during the weekends. It would be nice to explore arts and crafts and take courses in painting or ceramics close to my new home.
I will be traveling mostly alone, but if possible, it would be great if my elderly parents or my children could come and visit for shorter periods.
We have exchanged twice before when the children were small and were very pleased. I loved that you can email and help each other with tips on places to visit.
Now I have made two perfect exchanges and look forward for more travelling.
