Appartment with garden in Bern (Capitol of Switzerland and Unesco protected)

Our apartment is located in the west of Bern, the capital of Switzerland, in a small residential area with beautiful old houses from the Wilhelminian period. The S-Bahn takes you within 5 minutes to the main station, the tram takes 15 minutes. Switzerlands open transport is one of the best of the world and very easy to get around with. The historic town of Bern is especially beautiful to stroll through, have a beer, eat Rösti or Fondue or go to one of the very good musea (Paul-Klee, Museum of communication, Museum of Modern art, Museum of the Alpes etc.).

In Bern and the surrounding area there is a lot to do in summer. The river Aare surrounds the historic city center of Bern and it is a very special treat to swim in it. The outdoor swimming pools Marzili and Weyerli (the latter close to our house) are free of charge. There is a zoo and a rope park in the city. A trip to the mountains is easily arranged at any time by public transport. The really high alpes (Jungfrau, Mönch, Eiger) you reach in about an hour by train, just as the cities of Zurich of Basel. But Bern is not only in the middle of Switzerland, but also in the middle of Europe. By train it's 3h to Milan or 4,5h to Paris.

In case you just want to relax, you will find a hammock in our garden, a fire bowl and a dining table.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Zürich - 1h by train

The west of Bern were we live is a diverse area. Bourgeois neighborhoods with single-family houses alternate with apartment buildings or high-rises. In terms of age, Bümplizers are more mixed than any other district in Bern, and the migration backgrounds of many residents also make the district lively. For example we have a nice Tibetan take-away 1 minute from us and a small Asian supermarket. In the big supermarkets (5 minutes on foot away) you will find food for all tastes. Having lived in Amsterdam for a long time, we feel very much at home here.
