A Swedish rural idyll

Our home is a villa located in a small village called Ålberga. It is a charming hundred-year-old brick house with a large and lovely garden, featuring an outdoor kitchen, a spa tub, and our newly built swimming pool.
The character of the house is a typical country style. The kitchen is newly renovated—charming, yet modern and convenient.

We have three bedrooms, plus a small attic room with two beds. There are two bathrooms, a laundry room, and all modern amenities such as TVs, computers, and WiFi.

The house is cosy and welcoming, and above all, it has a fantastic location with direct access to nature while still being close to cities and the airport. The closest airport is about a 30-minute drive away. Inside the house, there is a living room with TV and a record player, a dining room seating 6–10 people, and a separate TV room.

Our villa was built alongside the railway over 100 years ago. Trains still pass by, but they are few, slow, and do not disturb.

The garden is spacious and perfect for both children and adults, with games and sports equipment. There are also flower beds, a porch for long summer evenings, and a barbecue area. We enjoy growing vegetables, and depending on the season, you may find strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, and potatoes. One of our favourite spots is an old barn that we have rebuilt into a kind of outdoor “taverna”—a covered space with an outdoor kitchen, comfortable furniture, and a bar area. We also have a spa tub for five persons.

The surroundings are beautiful, with forests offering walking trails and excellent opportunities for picking mushrooms and blueberries in season. With our bikes, you can reach a lovely lake with a swimming area and wooden jetties in just five minutes. In winter, there are cross-country ski trails almost right outside the house. Not far away, you will also find longer, well-marked trails that let you explore the Swedish countryside.

We also have a spacious and unique apartment in central Linköping, which can be included in the exchange. It is a duplex apartment with a large rooftop terrace, located right in the city centre. While it only has two bedrooms (with sleeping space for up to four people), it offers a fantastic opportunity to experience city life, with restaurants, shops, and culture just outside your door. It is something truly special and can be a great complement to the countryside stay.

About the neighborhood

We live in a small and cozy village in a convenient living with beatiful forest, exercise tracks, country roads and lake with jettys. The forest offers limitless blueberrys in summer season and lots of funnel chanterelles in the autumn.

Ålberga is located in the middle of two regions with close to two citys. In 30 minutes by car south we have Norrköping and 25 min north Nyköping. Two nicy citys with lots to see and do. Stockholm is in a good distance and be reached within 1 1/2 h by car.

We live pretty close to the coast and can reach the archipelago by car within 30- 60 min. We have three favourites we like to visit, Femöre, Stendörren and Arkösund.
Femöre is reached in 30 min and offers bathing from rocks, walking trails in nature reserve, amazing waffles and interesting visit to top secret Cold War coastal artillery fortress.

Local food and beer
In Nyköping we have two really good beer breweries, where you also can eat really nice food in a nice environment. Where we lives there are a lot of hunters. Therefore there is a good local restaurant on the countryside with really good food and a small shop where you can shop vension for home cooking.

Curious Travellers Who Love Both City and Nature

Nowadays, it is just the two of us—Robert and Linda—living in our home. With our children grown up, we have entered a new phase of life where we can follow our curiosity and our shared love for travel. We are drawn to both vibrant city life and peaceful natural surroundings, and we truly enjoy discovering the everyday rhythm of new places.
For us, travelling is not just about seeing new sights, but about experiencing how people live—the atmosphere, the neighbourhoods, and the small details that make each place unique. That is why home exchange appeals so much to us.

Linda (47) works as a senior manager in the Municipality of Norrköping, with responsibility for labour market issues and financial assistance. Robert (49) is a military officer. We are both responsible, considerate, and take great pride in caring for our home—and we treat others’ homes with the same respect.
We also share our home with Morris, our very friendly and much-loved cat. He is an easy-going companion who enjoys company and a little extra attention while we are away. Ideally, he would stay at home with you, but if you are planning shorter trips during your stay, we have kind neighbours who can help out. Of course, we can also arrange alternative care if that suits you better.

From time to time, our travels include our two adult children and our young grandchild, or occasionally close friends. If that would be the case, we always make sure to discuss and agree on it with you in advance.
We are open-minded, curious, and genuinely appreciative of the opportunity to explore new places while sharing our own home and surroundings in return.
