Seaside Village in Kinvara, West of Ireland
Kinvara is a picturesque coastal town on the Wild Atlantic Way, set in rural countryside in South Galway with a population of approx. 2000 people. It is a very safe place with a strong community spirit. Our home is situated a 10/15min walk from the village and overlooks the beautiful Burren Hills. We enjoyed building our home and have orientated it to maximise sunlight, it has a bright modern airy feel and is ideally designed to suit family life with a large open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room (it is 176m2). We are have 0.75 acre garden surrounding the house with a secure children's play area (trampoline, swings, sand-pit, goal post) and sheltered patio area for outdoor dining and enjoy amazing sunsets!
We are 15mins walk from the village where there is one small hotel, two small supermarkets, 2 cafes (inc. internet), a fish restaurant and 3 traditional restaurants (inc. good take out pizza), chemist, clothes shop, post office, 2 gift shops, tennis court, playground, health food shop, a number of pubs and bed & breakfasts. The village has a lively farmers market every Friday morning. Local people are friendly and very happy to chat to visitors.
We have a local beach 10minutes drive away and are 20mins drive from Coole Park our local forest park. We are 30mins drive from Galway city and ferries to the Aran Islands and 1.5 hours to the wild beauty of the mountains and lakes in Connemara.
There's lots to do locally and we are ideally located for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way and the West Coast of Ireland. Hillwalking, guided cycling, coastal foraging or walking tours and fishing are all available locally. Golfing is available in Gort (20mins drive). Just over the border in county Clare: Lahinch (40mins drive) features surfing and golf, Cliffs of Moher (40mins drive) Doolin (1 hour drive) features features ferries to the Aran Islands for a very enjoyable day trip.
